The Mike stands for money and the D is for diamonds.

So what’cha what’cha what’cha want (what’cha want)? Is it affordably-priced royal-blue leather manbags to lug around your day-to-day necessities? If so, Beastie Boy Mike D. has got you covered. Well, he’s got you covered if you don’t care too much about the ‘affordable’ part.

As per Billboard, Mike D. (government name: Michael Diamond) has teamed up with Los Angeles designer Clare Vivier to create a capsule collection of items Mike felt were missing from his life, including $625 USD ($800 CAD) tote bags, $55 luggage tags, and $99 T-shirts.

“I was showing up at the studio all the time with no bag, being like, ‘I don’t want to have a backpack. I’ve had backpacks my whole life and I’m a grown man now. I should have something better,” Mike said, also noting that being in a rap group his whole life has left him “innately aesthetically oriented”, perhaps momentarily confusing the Beastie Boys for Björk, or maybe Saint Pepsi. “I really felt like I was paying way too little for T-shirts”- something Mike D. might also have said if he were totally honest.

Take a look at the collection here, if you’re in the mood for upmarket accessories nobody will ever need, like insanely overpriced passport sleeves and luggage tags. “How will be people at the airport know I have money to waste if I don’t get a jade Clare V. luggage tag?!” Fair question. Mike D. didn’t rule out the possibility of more accessory collections in the future: “I definitely think expanding out from what we’ve done would make sense. I’m in need of a man apron. A very manly apron.” Manly apron coming soon, for a mere $700.
