Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward are fighting on Facebook like a bunch of teenagers

A few years ago, Black Sabbath continued their legacy of disrespecting drummer Bill Ward by offering him a bum deal: As he told it, they’d “let” him play a few songs on their reunion tour, then replace him with a better drummer and offer him chump change as compensation. After Ward called them out, Black Sabbath issued a statement saying he was “too fat” to play with them before breaking him with him on Facebook.

That was that, for a while. But Black Sabbath are reuniting again (still?), so Bill Ward issued a pretty lengthy statement that, in short, says he’s still open to coming back to Black Sabbath if they’re open to apologizing for how they treated him. Mostly, for calling him fat.

But because Ozzy Osbourne’s personal and professional life is managed down to the millimetre by his bridge burning wife, the bat-chomping singer’s response is the opposite of an apology. Rather than “amending his viewpoints and exaggerations,” Ozzy himself issued a statement on Facebook, starting in a way we can hear him shakily mumbling.

“Wow Bill,” he writes in his statement. “What the fuck are you on about?”

“Physically, you knew you were fucked,” he continues. “With Tony’s condition we felt that time was not on our side.”

Tony Iommi, as Black Sabbath fans are well aware, is in an ongoing battle against cancer.

Bill, stop this smokescreen about an “unsignable contract” and let’s be honest. Deep down inside you knew you weren’t capable of doing the album and a 16 month tour. Unfortunately for you, our instincts were correct as you were in hospital several times during 2013. Your last hospitalization was for a shoulder surgery that you now say you’ve only just recovered from. This would have meant that our world tour would have been canceled. So how is all of this my fault? Stop playing the victim and be honest with yourself and our fans.

Ozzy ends the statement much like Bill Ward did his: Reiterating that they go back too long to be this petty. But getting there, it’s clear there is a widening gap between them that can never be repaired.
