Regardless of what you think about the allegations levelled against him, it was always clear that Michael Jackson, for all his faults, was like a harmless child. He fantasized about being Peter Pan, lived in a theme park and, according to Russell Crowe, loved making prank calls.

Crowe says Jackson called him for two or three years, pranking him with corny dad jokes. The best part, though? They’d never met.

I never met him, never shook his hand, but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under, so it didn’t matter where I was, he’d ring up do this kind of thing, like you did when you were 10, you know. ‘Is Mr Wall there? Is Mrs Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then what’s holding the roof up? Ha ha.’ You’re supposed to grow out of doing that, right?

“He’d ring me and in a strong voice and say, ‘There is an emergency and you need to leave the building,'” Crowe said to the Sun back in 2013. “I’d ask, ‘Who is this?’ And he’d say, ‘Do not worry Russell, just kidding, this is Michael.'”

Michael Jackson, everybody. Michael. Jackson. Imagine getting those phone calls? For years? [h/t Defamer]
