As the U.S. presidential polls open, artists around the country are making their final push to get their fans to rock the vote. One of the more baffling ones happened last night, when Lady Gaga and Jon Bon Jovi sang “Living on a Prayer” to a midnight audience of people who had–let’s be honest–already hedged their bets on the Hilldozer.

But before they performed, Gaga gave a speech, and the outfit she wore drew some pretty intense criticism. Namely, that she was dressed like a Nazi. The black shirt and red arm band certainly draw a dangerous coincidence.

Thankfully, no, Lady Gaga has not suddenly turned to the Reich, and no, this isn’t a play on the exhausted Hitlery Trumpism. It turns out she was actually paying tribute to Michael Jackson, and that the top she was wearing is the same one he wore when he visited the White House in 1990. Like, it’s the exact same one: Gaga purchased it, along with 54 other things, at a Michael Jackson auction back in 2012.
