Forget Ozzy Osbourne: After Tony Iommi’s masterful innovations on the guitar, Geezer Butler was Black Sabbath’s most important member. While his impact as the band’s primary lyricist is met with wavering success, his unmistakeable gallop on the bass guitar is one of Sabbath’s defining characteristics.

It was effective, but simple. So much so that here’s someone playing “Iron Man” on a bass custom made using a water cooler bottle and two regular bass guitar strings.

The fretless instrument was made by YouTuber Tychsen81, who put it together using the mechanics from an Ibanez guitar… when he was drunk. Back in 2009 he said he’d planned on making a four stringed version, but it doesn’t look like that ever happened. [via Imgur]
