When the Polaris Music Prize announces its long list, the real fun of trying to figure out how it’ll pare down to only 10 begins. Today, live from the historic Carlu in Toronto, this year’s Polaris Gala host, Jay Baruchel, wasn’t the only thing announced—the 10 short listers for 2014 have been revealed.

Here is the 2014 Polaris Music Prize short list.
