It’s been a wild 12 hours for the disgraced Toronto mayor Rob Ford: A second crack video has reportedly emerged, and The Globe and Mail leaked stills of the mayor allegedly hitting the pipe. The Sunreceived audio of Ford sounding very inebriated at an Etobicoke bar, where, in an obnoxious rant, he supposedly made lewd comments—about wanting to “jam”—councillor Karen Stintz. Finally, the mayor announced that he’d be taking taking a break from the mayoralty race, admitting that he has a substance abuse problem: “I have a problem with alcohol,” he said, “and the choices I have made while under the influence.”

Still, the most bizarre news floating around this morning involves Justin Bieber, who the mayor reportedly encountered at Muzik Nightclub, a venue he’s frequented before. It began when Michael Cooke, the Toronto Star‘s editor, tweeted this.

The story gets stranger still. The encounter, witnesses say, happened on March 15. Ford reportedly met four men outside City Hall, and, after bringing them to pre-drink at his house, ordered a party bus to bring the men to Muzik.

You read that correctly: A party bus.

At the club, writes the Star‘s Donovan, Ford ran into Bieber. When he went to shake the pop star’s hand, Bieber allegedly cracked a crack-smoking joke about the crack-smoking mayor: “Did you bring any crack to smoke?”

In defense of the mayor, it’s not a particularly classy joke, especially considering that Bieber’s own drug usage has been questionedand criticized.

Ford, for his part, didn’t take to the joke kindly—accompanied by security, he slunk back to his booth to continue drinking with his four friends. And, according to witnesses, he might not have had crack, but he seemed to have nose candy: Clubgoers say they witnessed Ford snorting lines of cocaine, while he disappeared into a bathroom for nearly an hour.

When he emerged, he was complaining that his family hated that him and that he was “in over his head.”

If the mayor felt snubbed by the Biebs, we could hardly blame him. After all, when the pop sensation was going through his own problems in January—if you’ll recall, he was arrested for drunk driving and drag racing—Ford came to the embattled singer’s defence.

“He’s a young guy,” he told Washington sports radio show Sports Junkies, evidently not realizing the humour in the show’s title.”I wish I was as successful as he was.”

He had a point: While Bieber’s rebounded from his arrest, drunk driving charges, and footage of him pissing into a mop bucket, Toronto’s mayor may not be as lucky.
