After her son’s death in 2009, Katherin Jackson was obviously traumatized and looking for answers. With the conviction of Michael’s doctor, Conrad Murray, she found a bit of solace. But it wasn’t done: Jackson, and the rest of her family, then initiated a lawsuit against AEG Live, the promoters of MJ’s fabled This Is It comeback. She alleged wrongdoing on their part, that they hired a physician unfit for the job, but after going to a jury, AEG Live was cleared of all charges of negligence.

The lawsuit was reported as being for as much as $40 billion, thus AEG Live is obviously relieved. Still, their closing statements might have gone a little too far.

“AEG would have never agreed to finance this tour if they knew Mr. Jackson was playing Russian roulette in his bedroom every night,” said attorney Marvin Putnam to the jury.

The case was based around Dr. Murray’s debt and alleged that he took advantage of Jackson’s vices to dig himself out of a $500,000 hole.
