As I Lay Dying singer reportedly tried to hire someone to kill his wife

Tim Lambesis has always commented on As I Lay Dying’s Christian origins by saying he wants to separate his beliefs from his music, but last night Reuters reported a story that reflects poorly on both. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Lambesis has been arrested for allegedly attempting to hire someone to kill his estranged wife. Unfortunately for him, the person he solicited was an undercover detective.

Details are sparse given the circumstances, so it’s not yet known how the police became aware of Lambesis’ alleged intentions, though they say they acted immediately on information they received last week to avoid “a great tragedy.”

He and his wife Meggan separated in September 2012.

Lambesis is expected to be arraigned in court as early as today. More on this as it develops.
