Gardener says flowers bloom best when exposed to heavy metal

Has science gone too far? A TV gardener is claiming now that blaring heavy metal at your flowers will help them bloom best. Chris Beardshaw talked to Radio 4 about the study, which had horticultural students looking at plants in four different green houses.

“We had one greenhouse that was silent and we had one that was played classical music, one that was played Cliff Richard and one that was played Black Sabbath,” he said. “The ones with Black Sabbath – great big, thumping noise, rowdy music – they were the shortest, but they had the best flowers and the best resistance to pest and disease.”
According to him, all plants in the Cliff Richard house died. Long live heavy metal! [via the Daily Mail]
