Call it convenient timing if you’d like with Black Sabbath’s new single set to drop on Thursday and their new album in the pipeline, but Ozzy Osbourne’s revealed that he’s fallen off the wagon over the last 18 months.

Addressing rumours that he and wife/succubus Sharon Osbourne are divorcing (he says they aren’t), Ozzy wrote on Facebook that he’s been sober for 44 days but had been “drinking and taking drugs” for the past year and a half.

“I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family,” he wrote on the page. “I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period………and my fans.”

As for how this will impact Sabbath’s semi-reunion… it probably won’t. Though easily the biggest name in the band, Ozzy’s contributions have always been nominal at best—a moan here and a publicity stunt there. Consider this the saddening senior-state of the latter.

Regarding his 31-year marriage to Sharon Osbourne—we’d rather not speculate on something that’s so explicitly not our business.

13 is out on June 11th.
