Opportunist jerks Fall Out Boy took advantage of My Chemical Romance’s stunning demise today with the release of their new video, “The Phoenix.”

The clip attempts to show how the former pop-punk lotharios made it into the back of a van in their last video, “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” in gory, ill-explained fashion.

As for the song: yikes. It’s not that we expected them to re-record Take This To Your Grave but “The Phoenix” shuts the band dynamic out and makes the new sound little more than an extension of Patrick Stump’s so-so solo career.

Watch it up top, but let us reiterate that it’s surprisingly (if suggestively) gory at parts.
