There’s insane and then there’s the Jackson family, who TMZ says are suing concert promoters AEG for more than $40 BILLION dollars. Michael’s mom Katherine apparently thinks kids Prince, Paris and Blanket are owed $10 billion to make up for MJ’s “future earnings” while the other $30 billion is for “unspecified damages.”
Jackson, as you might remember, was killed after being administered a fatal dose of the drug Propofol. The Jackson’s say AEG were negligent in the hiring of Murray and that the exhaustive rehearsal schedule for Jackson’s This Is It kept him from sleeping.
AEG reps are rightfully calling the suit preposterous, pointing out that Jackson’s career was on its way down at the time of his death. Would This Is It have made boatloads of money? Absolutely. Would it have pushed Jackson’s debts away and ushered his estate into the billions? Not likely.
