Gucci Mane is in custody and charged with assault after allegedly hitting a fan with a champagne bottle, resulting in a concussion and ten stitches. Atlanta’s WSBTV says the victim was a U.S. soldier named James who asked for a picture with the MC.

“I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle,” he said of the incident.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says Gucci turned himself in late last night and will face a magistrate today. Fans might remember that this isn’t his first rodeo: in 2005 he was charged with murder, which was later dropped due to insufficient evidence. One year later, he went to jail for assaulting a nightclub promoter.

He was arrested twice in April 2011 for sepearate charges of battery and aggravated assault, sending him to jail for six months (he served just over three).

More well known are the charges stemming from an incident that saw the ice cream faced MC driving on the wrong side of the road in 2010, which led to him pleading “mental incompetency” and saw him sent to a psychiatric hospital.

So while we’re not one to jump to conclusions here, it’s entirely likely that Gucci Mane might’ve goofed with this one. More on this as it happens.
