Remember when Diddy changed his name to “Swag” for a week in 2011? Or, how about when Breaking Bad‘s Walter White Jr. changed his name to “Flynn” for a season? Short-lived name changes are one thing, but when Gucci Mane’s newly christened moniker lasted less than an hour, you’ve gotta wonder if he was even serious to begin with.

Yesterday, the Trap God took to Twitter to announce that he’d be retiring the Gucci Mane we know and love, and moving forward as GuWop, perhaps inspired by a recent collaboration with Trinidad Jame$. A mere thirty-two minutes later, Gucci Mane back-peddled based on overwhelmingly negative feedback from his Twitter followers. We’re not sure GuWop works as an artist name, but we’re prepared to use it as a definitive genre descriptor for Gucci Mane’s catalogue.

Do you think if Gucci had only tweeted that he was going to get an ice cream cone tattooed on his face, his followers might have been able to talk him out of it? Let’s pour one out for the fallen homie GuWop who was taken from us far too soon, and revisit five other stupid things that Gucci Mane has done in recent memory. Brrr!

Remember that time Gucci Mane pushed a woman out of a moving vehicle?

In January of 2011, Gucci Mane approached Diana Graham at the South DeKalb Mall in Georgia, and invited her to breakfast. After she refused to accompany the Gooch back to his hotel, he opened the passenger door and pushed her out while the vehicle was in motion. Damn, that’s cold, even coming from the Ice Cream Man himself. Graham successfully sued Gucci for $58,161.24 in punitive damages.

Remember that time Gucci Mane got a tattoo of an ice cream cone on his face?

Gucci Mane got a tattoo of an ice cream cone on his face to prove that he’s the “coldest emcee in the game.” Guy, you probably could have just gotten a chain with a golden ice cube tray filled with diamonds on it, or something.

Remember that time Gucci Mane started beef with A$AP Ferg because he called his mixtape Trap Lord?

Clearly Gucci feels some kind of ownership over the Trap [Insert Deity Here] album title format. Let it be known that the following album titles are off-limits for rappers who are not Gucci Mane:

Trap Absolute Being
Trap Father
Trap Infinite Spirit
Trap Yahweh
Trap Maker
Trap Prime Mover
Trap Totem
Trap Jah

Remember that time Gucci Mane violated his probation by driving on the wrong side of the road?

In November of 2010, police pulled Gucci Mane over for driving on the wrong side of the road, and had to subdue him with pepper spray. In a statement to police, Gucci said he did it to prove that he’s the most “mentally incompetent and unstable driver in the game.”

Remember that time Gucci Mane had iced-out chains made of Bart Simpson, Odie from Garfield, and Starvin’ Marvin from South Park?

Gucci Mane is a founding father in the proud hip-hop tradition of wearing iced-out fictional characters around your neck, keeping exotic gemstone miners, chiropractors, and ultimately, pawn shop owners in business during the deepest and darkest of recessions.
