Irish bookies are taking bets on Pope Benedict XVI’s successor, and while the top choices are all Cardinals (with Canadian Marc Ouellet as the favourite), the bottom rung helps categorize the pool as “Novelty Bets.” That’s because after United States Cardinal Francis George the next three candidates are as follows: belligerent atheist Richard Dawkins, TV’s Father Dougal Maguire and… Bono.
We think it’s the perfect fit for a figurehead position where all you’ve got to do is talk a bunch. But would they let him wear his sunglasses? [via Alan Cross]
