The nominations for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced this morning, and on first glance, it looks like a pretty reasonable list, with fun., Kanye West, Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, and Frank Ocean leading the nominations with six apiece.

At first, the big shocker seemed to be that Justin Bieber was snubbed entirely, or that 2 Chainz’ abysmal Based On A T.R.U. Story earned a nomination in the Best Rap Album category. Little did we know, the real shocker would be an obscure nominee by the name of Al Walser in the Best Dance Recording category.

Al Walser is a self-proclaimed “international entertainment mogul” who “takes the dance floor by the balls and grips it there until the crowd begs for submission.” After viewing the video for his GRAMMY NOMINATED song (see above), you probably won’t have any qualms about begging for submission.

So, who is this guy, and how did he troll the GRAMMYs? Spin does a pretty good job of breaking down his history, but he currently has a total of eight (8) likes on his official Facebook page if that tells you anything. Is it possible that Al Walser is deadMAU5 in some kind of elaborate costume?

If the song itself wasn’t so cheesy and cringe-worthy, it might be rational to chalk up the song’s perplexing low-budget video as a piece of ironic, tongue-in-cheek commentary. What exactly is it about “I Can’t Live Without You” that makes it good enough to stand beside productions by EDM monsters like Avicci, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, and Skrillex?

And just to clarify, Justin Bieber has zero nominations, and this keytar playing doofus has one. We’ll keep you updated as this one unfolds, because frankly, we’re just as confused as you are.
