A "clerical error" by Cash Money Records is blamed for the song's absence.

Body movement firebrand Drake scored a gargantuan hit this year with “Hotline Bling,” but its absence from the recent 2016 Grammy nomination dump is pretty conspicuous. How could one of 2015’s most inescapable songs elude the memories of the Recording Academy? According to Hits Daily Double, it was actually a goof-up from Drake’s record label that led to the “snub.”

The industry outlet says “Hotline Bling” wasn’t submitted for Grammy consideration by Cash Money Records. Why? Apparently a “clerical error” messed things up and this potential nomination magnet missed out as a result. Feel free to weave this development into any Birdman vs. Lil Wayne conspiracy ravings you’ve been working on.

Don’t feel too bad for Drake. In addition to being a successful attractive millionaire, he’s still up for five Grammy statuettes come February 15. On top of that, he’ll likely get a shitload of noms next year if he gets around to releasing his next album Views From The 6.

Let’s dance these feelings out, shall we?
