After earning the esteemed prize of “runner-up” in our list of the top 3 members of Coldplay who aren’t Chris Martin, Will Champion will be enjoying a cameo appearance on HBO’s medieval-fantasy-sexposition romp Game Of Thrones.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the Coldplay drummer will be playing (big surprise!) a drummer on the third season of the serial drama. There’s no word on what the context of this cameo will be, but GoT fans are speculating that Champion will be playing a drummer in a band that will performing at a certain wedding (don’t worry, we have a “no spoilers” policy on AUX).

Champion won’t be the only musician to have a cameo on the show next year. Entertainment Weekly let it slip that Gary Lightbody, the singer from Snow Patrol, will also appear in the upcoming season of Game Of Thrones.

Between Lightbody, Champion, and the song that The National wrote for the show’s soundtrack last season, we’ve got the makings of a Game Of Thrones all-star super-band.

On a related note, series creator George R.R. Martin would not confirm or deny rumours that Willie Nelson will be playing a white walker next season.

Game Of Thrones returns to HBO on March 31, 2013.
