Rick Ross and Young Jeezy don’t exactly have a history of getting along, and their long-dormant beef was reignited on Saturday at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, as a scuffle backstage was said to escalate into a full-on melee in the parking lot, with some sources even reporting that gunshots were fired.

The feud between Rozay and Jeezy began in 2010 when Rick Ross released the single “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast).” Young Jeezy felt that Ross was trying to align himself with the Black Mafia Family, a drug trafficking organization originally based in Detroit, who legitimized themselves by promoting hip-hop artists such as Young Jeezy through BMF Entertainment. Young Jeezy made his feelings known on a freestyle overtop of Ross’ “B.M.F.” beat: “How you Blowin’ Money Fast?/ You don’t know the crew/ Oh, you part of the fam?/ Sh–, I never knew.”

Words were exchanged between Young Jeezy and Rick Ross backstage, and TMZ got their hot-little-hands on some footage of the ensuing shoving match. Luckily, it looks like the only injury was sustained by a full-length mirror. Watch the kerfuffle below. Keep an eye out for celebrity DJ cameos from DJ Drama and DJ Khalaed, too:

Despite early reports stating that this altercation spilled out into the parking lot, new information has surfaced indicating that this altercation ended after the shoving match. The unrelated incident in the parking lot with the alleged gunshots came courtesy of a conflict between the bodyguards of 50 Cent, and Maybach Music MC Gunplay. Check out a video that was posted to Word Star Hip-Hop shortly after the brawl:

Unfortunately, the glorification of this kind of volatile behaviour reflects badly on the hip-hop community. DJ Drama put it best in a statement about his first-person account of the exchange: “Hopefully as bosses, we understand what the bigger picture is. There’s a lot of money on the table. A culture we are invested in.”

According to a statement released by BET, the awards show continued without incident, despite these unfortunate occurrences. The BET Hip-Hop Awards are a pre-taped event, and will air for the first time on October 9th.
