Paul McCartney pulled his best passive aggressive punch in an upcoming interview set to air on Al Jazeera English with the BBC reporting that he’s finally commented—and denied—on the long-believed rumours that Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles.

“She certainly didn’t break the group up,” says McCartney to interviewer David Frost.

But there’s two sides to this coin.

“When Yoko came along, part of her attraction was her avant garde side, her view of things,” he continues. “She showed him another way to be, which was very attractive to him. So it was time for John to leave.”

So, basically Paul McCartney says that while Yoko Ono didn’t break up the band, she did essentially get John Lennon to leave. Which, if you’re following at home, means she kind of did break up the band.
