It’s been almost exactly two years since the release of Doo-Wops & Hooligans, the album that simultaneously put Bruno Mars on the map and saturated pop radio in one foul swoop, and Bruno Mars is finally back with some brand new material.

It’s been almost exactly two years since the release of Doo-Wops & Hooligans, the album that simultaneously put Bruno Mars on the map and saturated pop radio in one foul swoop, and Bruno Mars is finally back with some brand new material. If you were looking forward to more of the soul/R&B influenced melodic brain worms featured on Mars’ debut, this new single might shock you. It sounds almost ’80s new-wave influenced, with Bruno mimicking Sting (the tantric master himself!) in the verses.

Unorthodox Jukebox drops December 11th, and given the euro-house overload the pop music world is experiencing currently, the retro sounds of “Locked Out Of Heaven” should find a welcome home on the charts.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this Bruno Mars song is really, really good. Wow.
