According to an update from Fat Wreck Chords posted this afternoon, No Use For A Name vocalist and guitarist Tony Sly has passed away. The label offers little details, but includes a comment from NOFX’s Fat Mike, who offers that, “One of my dearest friends and favorite song writers has gone way too soon. Tony, you will be greatly missed.”

Sly had just wrapped a solo tour with Joey Cape of Lagwagon, with whom he had just released a second split album, Acoustic Volume 2. According to his Facebook, Sly was working on new No Use For A Name material with plans to tour in 2012. The band last album, The Feel Good Record of the Year, was released in 2008.
