After successful reunion tours by the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, one more boy band has decided it’s time for another kick at the can. Set your tips to frosted, because 98 Degrees is back and performing for the first time in ten years at this summer’s Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The group hasn’t had the lasting nostalgic impact of contemporaries like BSB and ‘NSYNC, but sold ten million records worldwide and scored numerous hits over their short lifespan, including a #1 by way of contributing guest vocals on Mariah Carey’s “Thank God I Found You.” They’ll also appear on the Today Show as part of its Summer Concert Series, which should prompt many stereotypical New Yorkers to grouse, “Dey’re shuttin’ down da street for dese fruit loops?”

All four original vocalists will take part in the reunion – that’s Nick Lachey, and… y’know, the others. And according to the Grammy nominated group, they’re also working on new material. Except for the members who are now employed six days a week at a jeans factory, who work on new material pretty much every day. Oh, that was kinda bitchy.

This leaves ‘NSYNC as the only major boy band of the nineties that has yet to reform. When Justin Timberlake was asked if he would ever consider teaming up again with his former bandmates, he reportedly laughed really hard directly into Jessica Biel’s cleavage, and wiped away a stray tear with a million dollar bill.
