The boy band lifer wants the state of Ohio to legalize marijuana.

98 Degrees alum and all-around professional celebrity Nick Lachey is kicking in some green to invest in some green. That’s right, the former Tiger Beat staple has plans to invest in pot.

Lachey is part of a team of investors looking for the state of Ohio to legalize marijuana. ResponsibleOhio has a proposal they’d like to see on the November 3rd ballot that would legalize marijuana for medical and personal use by adults 21 years or older. If that happens, Lachey’s investment team would be backing a production facility in Hudson, Ohio.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that other investors in Ohio grow centres include three regional owners of CashMax stores and a car business owner from Texas. The state would have 10 grow centres in total under the proposed ballot issue.

“Ohio is my home, and as a resident and local business owner I am proud to be part of a movement that has the potential to create jobs, reinvigorate the local economy and improve the safety of our communities,” said Lachey in a statement released in April. “Passage of this proposal will result in much-needed economic development opportunities across Ohio, and update the state’s position on marijuana in a smart and safe way.”

Speaking of ballots and Ohio political history, we’d like to once again remind you that Nick’s 98 Degrees bandmate Justin Jeffre once ran for mayor of Cincinnati. (It did not go well.)
