According to the noble scribes at TMZ, rapper and poet and actor Common (Wikipedia just calls him an “entertainer“) is perilously close to having his Chicago apartment foreclosed on, probably because he reportedly hasn’t paid his mortgage in month.

It’s another important lesson for us common folks (joke landed). Just because Michelle Obama has invited you to the White House to read poetry doesn’t mean you can’t go sort of broke. Because this is far from the first time someone who you thought was rich couldn’t pay to keep their (probably super fancy) roof over their heads (in one of their multiple homes, but still).

The guy who wrote “My Boyfriend’s Back” and “I Want Candy” lived illegally in his former mansion and had to pay $666.66 for every day he didn’t leave
Courtney Love didn’t pay her mortgage for three years and then no one even bid on her house
Toni Braxton was foreclosed in Las Vegas, then Atlanta, likely making her heart forever un-unbreakable
Chamillionaire decided to just “let that house go” like it was an old, sick relative
Freaky deaky alien crooner Wayne Newton nearly foreclosed on his castle-like Vegas property despite performing every night at the Tropicana since time immemorial.
