Can you handle this? It’s been seven years since Destiny’s Child went on hiatus, spawning three separate solo careers of varying success. Now, it seems, we’ll finally get to hear some new music from the “Independent Women” who ruled the R&B charts in the 90s and 00s.

Can you handle this? It’s been seven years since Destiny’s Child went on hiatus, spawning three separate solo careers of varying success. Now, it seems, we’ll finally get to hear some new music from the “Independent Women” who ruled the R&B charts in the 90s and 00s.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Mathew Knowles (band manager and father to Beyoncé) announced a joint-venture with Sony that will see the release of two catalogue recordings featuring previously unreleased material.

Knowles told the Huffington Post that there would be two brand new records “with some previously unreleased material,” the first of which should be released this year.

When asked about the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion tour to accompany the releases, Mathew Knowles admitted that it was unlikely: “It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it. And I think the ladies are still working happily in their solo careers. And I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible.”

Mathew Knowles and Beyoncé announced a professional split over a year ago, so who knows how Bey is feeling about having this material see the light of day years after it was originally recorded. If it was any good, why haven’t we heard it already?

And it’s not like Beyoncé has enough on her plate already. Blue Ivy will be a teenager before Beyoncé will find room in her schedule to get the ol’ band back together.

That said, we’re curious about the new material. Will it be “Bills, Bills, Bills” era, or “Bootylicious” era? As soon as we know, you’ll know. Stay tuned.
