If you love when people create Wiki pages for samples used on an album, or perusing WhoSampled.com yourself to have a look at the same thing, you’ll love the latter’s new iPhone app.

The WhoSampled app scans your music library and pulls info for all the samples used in a track as well as covers and remixes associated with all of the artists and original songs in it.

The database isn’t endless, of course, but it does have information for 150,000 tracks by 54, 000 artists. When the sample info is displayed on screen, you can then go right to YouTube or other sites like Soundcloud to hear the original sample, finding out lots of additional nerdy info like the type of sample and the part of the song that’s being sampled.

It’s not free, and so far available only through iTunes UK, but, worth it. [via Wired UK]
