Welcome back to The Parody OD, a monthly roundup of YouTube’s burgeoning pop parodists! This time around, we see what the “Weird” Als of the digital generation have on LMFAO’s ubiquitous hit, “Sexy and I Know It.” How do you parody a group that pretty much parodies itself?

Welcome back to The Parody OD, a monthly roundup of YouTube’s burgeoning pop parodists! This time around, we see what the “Weird” Als of the digital generation have on LMFAO’s ubiquitous hit, “Sexy and I Know It.” How do you parody a group that pretty much parodies itself?

“Santa and I Know It”

What I Liked: You might have noticed in my past few editions that I’ve been pretty sour on YouTube parodies. Well, no longer! I don’t know if it’s the summer weather and the extra vitamin D it’s been affording me or these nifty rose coloured glasses I snagged from Rexall, but I’m in a much better mood and determined to focus on the positives in these videos, starting with parody juggernauts The Key of Awesome’s “Santa and I Know It”.

Yes, it seems surprisingly slapdash in comparison to their usual production standard. Yes, it double-dips into the fat joke well we’ve talked about before. But hey, Christmas! Christmas is a fun holiday. And I liked that Santa’s hat went pointy when he saw a woman in lingerie. It was like he had a boner under there!

Definitive Lyric: “I come down your chimney / Though it don’t quite fit me / Why do I smell kindling? / Put it out!”

Rating: 7/10

“I’m Gassy and I’m Bloated”

What I Liked: This one was filmed at the exact location in LA where the original video was made, which helps set up the comparison between it and the parody’s flatulent version of RedFoo. And the special effect of the actor’s underwear flying off in an explosion of gas when he farts was actually really well done! It was at least at the level of one of those crappy Disaster/Date movies, and looking like a crappy film is still looking like a film. Well done! Entertainment is cool!

Definitive Lyric: “Bubbles in my tummy / Bubbles in my tummy / Bubbles in my tummy / It slipped out!”

Rating: 8/10

“Chubby and I Know It”

What I Liked: The video opens with a cameo from Ron Jeremy, who also stars in LMFAO’s video. In this one, when the cameraman seemingly corners him in a public parking lot, he admits to being chubby. That’s a pretty good score for “93.3 FLZ’s Ratboy and Staypuff,” and surely a proud moment for Ron Jeremy! Also, looking at the body of the main character – I’ll go ahead and assume it’s Staypuff – made me feel better about mine. Thanks for the pick-me-up, gang!

Definitive Lyric: “Jiggle jiggle jiggle jiggle jiggle, yeah”

Rating: 8/10

“Malaysian and I Love It”

What I Liked: This is getting harder. For a video about being Malaysian and loving it, the video really doesn’t tell you very much about Malaysian people, other than that they enjoy eating Malaysian food. And the last minute of the video is mostly comprised of the actors dinking around with a soccer ball. But damn, does that Malaysian food look tasty! And they seem like nice guys. 9/10, let’s keep it going!

Definitive Lyric: “When you eat all these food, they make you go crazy / That’s where I live and I eat them every day”

Rating: 9/10

“LMFAO Sexy and I Know It Parody Funny Talking Dog”

What I Liked: This… would just appear to be a dog wearing funny glasses, super-imposed over the entirety of the LMFAO video. Positives, positives… the dog looks well fed. Oh, goddammit. Who makes this! No – more importantly, who watches this! 107,244 views is 107,244 views too many. I watched that “1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick” video where Luka Magnotta carves the guy up and uses his hand to masturbate. And this gives me less faith in humanity. “Eddie’s Dog House” is where hope starves and dies.

Definitive Lyric: All the lyrics of the original song. All of them.

Rating: 0/10

Next time: I see if it’s possible to put a hit out on someone, based purely on their YouTube username!
