The Spice Girls reunited in West London today, for the first time since a 2007 world tour, to announce that there is a musical based on the music of the Spice Girls in production. What songs are you hoping to see re-imagined in musical form? We’re hoping for 90 minutes of “Holler” over and over.

The Spice Girls reunited in West London today, for the first time since a 2007 world tour, to announce that there is a musical based on the music of the Spice Girls in production.

Conceived by Mama Mia! producer Judy Craymer and written by comedian Jennifer Saunders, the musical is titled Viva Forever! (after a song on the second Spice Girls record), and will be centred around the “bitter reality of fame” that comes with being on a TV talent show.

The show opens December 11th at London’s Piccadilly Theatre. It’s too bad Julie Taymor isn’t directing it. I was looking forward to seeing Baby Spice rappell from the rafters of the theatre, swinging around the audience like a shrieking banshee.
