Three of the Spice Girls have reunited at Gem, and their first song together has leaked.

Not content to sit back and rest on their legacy of top-tier 1990s dance-pop (and one um, slightly-less-than top-tier movie), three former Spice Girls have reformed as GEM. That’s not all, though: a new track, “Song For Her,” has leaked online.

Back in the summer, Scary (Melanie Brown), Baby (Emma Bunton), and Ginger (Geri Horner née Halliwell) Spice announced their reunion as GEM, and promised new music to follow amidst rumours of the full Spice Girls reforming for the 20th anniversary of Wannabe. That didn’t end up happening, but disappointed fans have an ostensible leak of a GEM demo to console them:

The fact that the breezy pop tune fades out at the three-minute mark has some fans excited, as they note that this is a requirement for a track to enter competition in the Eurovision song contest:

Of course… many, many pop tunes start to fade out at the three-minute mark, so it’s not exactly a smoking gun. Best not to get too excited, Spice Worlders:. Emma Bunton (reminder: Baby) said of “Song For Her” that “this is not a single, it’s just that we’re creating, having fun in the studio. It’s just a demo and somehow it has got out there”.

An official release may or may not be forthcoming.
