Mel B says "It's in my plan, I don’t know about anybody else's."

July 8, 1996 is a date which will live in infamy. It saw the release of a 12″, cassette and CD single for the Spice Girls’ immortal opening salvo, “Wannabe.” No one could have predicted that the words “zigazig ha” would carry such weight. B-side “Bumper to Bumper” remains criminally overlooked.

With the 20th anniversary of their debut approaching, nostalgic fans of Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Posh have begun to speculate about a reunion. Of course the Girls already got back together in 2007, but that’s no antidote to the ongoing infection of the retromania virus. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, Mel B said “it’s about time” for another Union Jack platformed kick at the girl power can.

“When you say it’s our twentieth anniversary coming up, it does make you think, ‘Oh, my gosh, it really has been that long.” said B (née Brown), who currently hosts America’s Got Talent. “Hopefully, we’ll gather the troops around, and we’ll get to do something to celebrate it next year. It’s in my plan, I don’t know about anybody else’s.”

Emma Bunton (a.k.a. Baby Spice) told the Daily Star that she gets “comeback cravings” and that it may simply require “getting five schedules together.” In the end, it’s hard to imagine anyone who’d be truly upset by a Spice Girls reunion except for the members of Period Pains.
