It was reported last night that Jack White will score Disney’s upcoming The Lone Ranger, which stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp (seen above with a bird on his head for some reason).

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer tells Variety that “Jack’s an amazing songwriter with a unique style.”

“We’re thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture,” he added.

Apparently the idea was at least partly Depp’s, which isn’t surprising since both he and White seem to be slowly merging into the same person. White’s worked on movies in the past, but The Lone Ranger will be his first attempt at scoring. The movie is an adaptation of a popular, pulpy 50s TV series which probably wasn’t racist at all.
