Hologram notwithstanding, Kurt Cobain isn’t someone fans should expect to hear anything new from any time soon. At least that’s what we were lead to believe until today, when Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson told Fuse that his old buddy had almost an entire album worth of solo songs demoed before he took his own life in 1994.

“I was really excited about some of the stuff he was working on. I got to see him play it in front of me,” said Erlandson. “That’s why I was really sad when he died. He was cut short. Who knows where this music would have gone?”

Suggesting that the songs could have come to been Cobain’s White Album, Erlandson goes onto say that he has no idea whether the tracks will ever surface.

“I’m not in control of things,” he says. “I just wish something would come together. I think the fans would be a lot happier.”

So, in short: there might be some unreleased Kurt Cobain music out there, but we’re likely a few legal disputes away from ever hearing them. If we ever do. [via NME]
