These days, all you need is Justin Bieber to help catapult you to stardom and Carly Rae is living proof of this. Back in 2005, Jepsen placed third on Canadian Idol and has stayed off the radar since. Her super catchy track, Call Me Maybe is a favourite of Bieber’s and he has tweets and support to show.

The most controversial news this week surrounds none other than RiRi and Breezy. On her birthday, Rihanna and Chris Brown released two new tracks that they worked on together. The music world continues to be in a frenzy over this and Rihanna is catching a lot of grief about her poor decisions as a role model. When asked how this whole collaboration came about, producer The-Dream noted that RiRi approached him about it and he obliged. That is all I’m going to touch on this subject because I think it’s beyond heinous and has no place on the chart.

Carly Rae Jepsen is famous – These days, all you need is Justin Bieber to help catapult you to stardom and Carly Rae is living proof of this. Back in 2005, Jepsen placed third on Canadian Idol and has stayed off the radar since. Her super catchy track, Call Me Maybe is a favourite of Bieber’s and he has tweets and support to show. Bieber enlisted his famous pals (including Ashley Tisdale and girlfriend Selena Gomez) to make a funny video to the tune of Carly Rae’s hit song. The video has gone viral, and Carly has signed a record deal. (Is it weird that I wish I was friends with these kids?)

Obama loves his hometown, proves it with song – While the Republicans were blabbering away at the Arizona debate this week, Obama was getting is campaign on at a Blues concert happening at the White House where he belted out a few verses from Sweet Home Chicago. Mick Jagger was the enabler in this situation and for the first time ever, society is probably okay with it.

Kanye’s charity spends $500k, none on charity – The Kanye West Foundation continues to post losses and the IRS is wondering what the heck is going on. Just when you thought Yeezy was that good guy you want him to be, he pulls shit like this. I’m wondering if he’s spent this money on gifts for his beloved niece Blue Ivy?

Someone is trying to bring back boy bands, not succeeding – Simon Fuller, Jamie King and lunatic Perez Hilton got together and searched across America for the ultimate boy band. IM5 is a group of 14-16 year-old high school dropouts who will soon start to experiment with drugs and spiral terribly out of control. No word yet on whether they will release their own music, instead they’ve just released their cover of ‘N Sync’s It’s Gonna Be Me.

Nelly Furtado teams up with K’Naan, tries to stay relevant – Nelly and K’Naan performed on Letterman this week as a promotion for K’s new EP. While it’s always so great to see Canadians representing in America, I’m not sure how I felt about Nelly’s Lisa Loeb get-up. Is this Nelly finally realizing that she isn’t in her twenties anymore and that she has a child (therefore should not be dressing provocatively)? In any case, the performance was mediocre. Check it out below:

Paris Hilton is back in the music world – I don’t know who Manufactured Superstars are, but I hate them for including Paris in their newest video called Drunk Text.

Limp Bizkit signs with Cash Money –

I’m not sure which side of this report to mock first; Lil Wayne and his gangsta pals or Limp Bizkit for believing that there is a possibility of a comeback. In any case, Weezy called a New York radio station to confirm the news and followed up by saying that they also signed Ashanti… remember her?
