StarGate are a Norwegian-born songwriting and production duo, best known for crafting a bevy of #1 hits with Rihanna, including “Rude Boy,” “S&M,” and “Only Girl (In The World). They made a name for themselves in their native Norway, and their first big breakthrough was writing and producing the ultra-jam “S-Club Party” for S-Club 7 in 1999. They soon relocated to New York, and crafted the #1 singles “So Sick” by Ne-Yo, and “Irreplaceable” by Beyoncé. Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen (both born in 1972) had proven that their formula of melodic layered synths and euro-style beat production was extremely viable in the States, and their profile has risen ever since.
