Ben Folds Five officially reunite, announce new album due this Spring

Ben Folds Five have officially reunited, announcing on Twitter yesterday that they’ll be in the studio through until March.

“It’s happening fo sho – Day 1 in studio with Robert and Darren through March #NewBenFoldsFiveRecord,” tweeted Folds, who later added that fans could expect an album this coming Spring.

The prospective album would be the band’s first together in over a decade, last releasing The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner in 1999. They reunited briefly in 2008 for a charity performance, but the reunion picked up steam when they got together to record three songs for the upcoming Ben Folds compilation The Best Imitation Of Myself: A Retrospective.

No word yet on any planned tours, but you should definitely get your hopes up on this one. We are. [via Spin]
