The list of artists snubbed from the most recent Rock & Roll Hall Fame inductions is pretty impressive, including names like The Cure, Eric B. & Rakim and Donna Summer. But there’s another big name that missed the cut, War, and maaaaaan are they pissed about it.

TMZ caught up with the funk legends to talk about the snub and founding member Howard Scott absolutely laid into the Beastie Boys, noting that War was “cranking out gold records when [Beastie Boys] were still in diapers.”

“It felt like I was kicked in the back of my britches,” said Scott about not getting inducted. “How could the Beastie Boys get in before us when they sampled War’s music on their first album?! I’ll eat their platinum records!”

And, in fairness, it’s kind of a heavy snub. War’s name might not be household, but their songs are unmistakable, with a laundry list of smash singles including, but not limited to, “Lowrider” and the timely “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”
