50 Cent has reportedly joined up with the United Nations World Food Programme in the hopes that his new energy drink can help feed a billion hungry children worldwide. Sort of.

Fiddy’s joined up with the UN in the hopes that his new Street King energy shot can help provide food for the hungry.  According to Forbes, that’s an entirely possible outcome. The UN says it costs between 10 and 25 cents to provide a nutritional meal to the hungry. Assuming Fiddy and his partners take home a 50% profit on the drink, which should sell between $2.50 and $3, the brains behind Street King should be splitting a per-unit profit of $1.15 to $1.40.

Not only is the rapper pledging to donate a meal for ever unit sold, but he’s reportedly already cut a cheque to cover 2.5 million meals.

While the company doesn’t expect to break even right away, “profits of $300-$500 million are possible by year three.”

If the Street King energy shot can be as successful as Vitamin Water, 50 Cent hopes it’ll inspire corporate giants like Coke (who bought Vitamin Wate few years back, netting him a cool $100 million) will jump on the give-back bandwagon. The UN speculates that it costs less than one percent of all corporate profits to feed 90 million of the world’s hungriest people, which 50 Cent says is “a small enough amount for the shareholders of all these companies to let go [of].”

Chris Lighty, Fiddy’s manager, says Street King is hoping to compete with the ever popular 5-Hour Energy shot, noting that “there’s no number two in the market.”

On the other side of the coin, 50 Cent is apparently being sued over an attack that took place at his home. Of course it’s worth noting that he wasn’t actually there at the time of the attack: the accuser is suing because the attacker, who worked for the rapper, was a known criminal.
