Expect the unexpected, I guess, because Black Sabbath’s original line-up of Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler and some dude on vocals has reunited to work on new music. Rumours of the reunion have been afloat for years, even amidst inter-band lawsuits between Iommi and Osbourne and members’ other projects, but in an interview with the Birmingham Mail, Tony Iommi confirmed it was finally happening.

‘‘It’s all been very hush-hush. Ozzy’s been the worst at trying to hold it back. He’s doing a lot of TV and he’s being asked stuff about a reunion and he’s going ‘well I never say never.”

Iommi says they’ve already started writing new material, adding that “[i]t’s more back to the old original stuff.”

As for how they’ll do, well, we’re not sure. But as the Dio-fronted Heaven and Hell proved back in 2009 with the Devil You Know, these guys have a lot of musical life left in them. As for Ozzy? Well, he never really did much anyways.
