At the end of each week, #Top40Tweets lists a cross-section of artists on the current pop charts and puts their tweets on display (along with their current chart number) for your enjoyment/scrutiny. This week, we look at 5 artists on the Billboard Music Charts.
#34: Taylor Swift – Mean
Any excuse to make a cake is a good enough excuse to make a cake.
Worth Following?: Yep. Taylor is just adorable, plain and simple. She seems to be living life under a microscope in the most normal way possible, and I have a lot of respect for that.
#23: Blake Shelton – Honey Bee
And I’ve jammed a piece of toast into a VCR, but you don’t see me bragging about it.
Worth Following?: I was first introduced to Blake via NBC’s singing competition The Voice. His Twitter tagline is something like “Get the straight BS from BS himself!” which I enjoy. There’s something appealing about a country music power couple. Move over Faith Hill & Tim McGraw. Blake Shelton and his wife Miranda Lambert both get a big “FOLLOW ‘EM” endorsement from me. U JELLY TIM MCGRAW? YEA, U JELLY.
#19 (Digital Songs): Tinie Tempah – Written In The Stars
Ray Romano: Sure, I’d be glad to take a photo with you, Kanye.
Tinie Tempah: Seriously, stop calling me Kanye.
Worth Following?: I was sorta pumped on Tinie Tempah a few months ago, and now he kinda bores me. God, I’m so fickle.
#95 (Hot 200): Justin Bieber – That Should Be Me feat. Rascall Flatts
Seriously, you need to check out this video. I don’t know how I missed it the first time around, but Bieber yelling “Owwwwughhgh!” in slow motion should be as iconic as the Wilhelm Scream.
Worth Following?: An obvious yes. Just the fact that he tweeted about smashing his head, and linked to a semi-embarrassing video goes to show how rad Justin Bieber is. He is so crazy-close to having 10 million Twitter followers, and yet he’s still got humility. Man, I’m an arrogant stubborn prick, and check out my paltry 122 followers. Follow @aaronzorgel to make my head swell.
#8: Ke$ha – Blow
You’re great, Ke$ha. Never change.
As an update to last week’s column, wherein Ke$ha asked her fans to send her their teeth. Holy shit. As disgusting as it is, that’s impressive. 164 teeth. I bet that dread smells like death.
Worth Following?: Yup. I’m gonna get real with you guys, and let you know that Ke$ha is maybe my favourite celebrity to follow on Twitter. In fact, I enjoy her Twitter presence more than I enjoy her music. Deal with it. And please, everyone start calling me by my new stage name, @@R0N.
