Following a mysterious video containing the lyrics to a few new songs off their upcoming as-yet-untitled album, Coldplay have revealed they’ll be releasing a new single this Friday (June 3) entitled “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” to stream and download via their official website.

Although it’s unclear whether the track is from the album, any new material from the band (even if it’s a cheesy Christmas song) is good news for Coldplay fans.

Drummer Will Campion commented on the new release saying: “We’re about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it’s as good a time as any to put out a new song. ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ will be available digitally on Friday 3rd June at 12pm (BST), except in the UK where it’ll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June.”

The band has apparently spent the last year recording the followup to 2008’s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. No details have been given about when the new album will come out.
