Watch the new Scott Pilgrim-inspired video from the Vines

Hey, remember the Vines? They have a new single out! In case you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s a direct homage (rip-off?) to last summer’s Toronto-based-and-made Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright, who has stayed actively involved with the film’s fan community via his Twitter and website, received a bunch of tweets about the video and blogged about it, saying:

Some asked if I thought it was a homage or a rip off? Some asked If I actually directed it. (I didn’t.)
Well, what do I think? I am very flattered.
Was a big fan of The Vines first album ‘Highly Evolved’ in 2002 and indeed loved the Roman Coppola video for ‘Get Free’ so seeing this makes me smile.
Nice to know that someone was taking notes out there!
