Yesterday was Sunday… and you get where we’re going.

It says a lot that in the three weeks since Rebecca Black’s “Friday” went viral, the would-be starlet has gone from a total joke to a pitied teenager to, well, whatever she is now. Annoying, maybe?

Luckily this past Friday might’ve put the final nail in the song’s figurative coffin as Stephen Colbert joined the Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for an explosive—literally—performance of the accidental chart topper. Complete with pyrotechnics, the Knicks City Dancers, Taylor Hicks (Soul Patrol…do people still say that?), a rapped verse from Black Thought and someone inexplicably dressed like a Yeti, the performance was, uh, interesting.

Colbert’s unique take on the track comes on the heels of Black’s ‘Funny or Die’ takeover on April Fools Day, which inexplicably featured Sammy Hagar, as well as a near endless barrage of quirky but decent covers, like this death metal one and this hyper-dramatic one.

Watch Stephen Colbert and the Roots perform “Friday” below and then, for everyone’s sake, let “Friday” die.
