As far as the Spice Girls’ Mel B and Mel C are concerned, it’s time to “open up the band to a new generation of fans and keep the memory of the Spice Girls alive.”

Though according to sources, the Girl Power group are divided in regards to releasing previously unreleased tracks that were recorded during the band’s heyday, with Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell remaining closed to the idea.

A source also claims that manager Simon Fuller, Brunton, and Halliwell are opposed to choosing the new record based on 60 old tracks, while Beckham’s pregnancy and booming fashion career have apparently led to her distance herself from the project altogether.

But regardless of whether the tracks are heard, rest assured the Spice Girls aren’t going anywhere: the group’s musical, Viva Forever, opens up next year to tide over ’90s pop fans until the group’s inevitable comeback reunion (2.0). [via Music-News]
