TGIF has an entirely new meaning: Rebecca Black’s “Friday” has clocked over 16 million YouTube hits and is currently sitting at #54 on the iTunes chart.
Produced by the LA-based label Ark Music Factory, the 13-year-old’s premiere pop endeavour has been the subject of harsh criticism and endless scrutiny, as the singer’s heavily autotuned vocals have been blasted and indelibly printed on the pop culture landscape.
In a recent interview with The Orange County Register, Black shared that she intends to show naysayers how “strong [she] is”, and that while they’re “entitled to their opinion”, she “believes in herself”.
Looks like someone’s gearing up to have some fun, fun, fun. [via BBC Newsbeat]
