Lupe Fiasco to release another new album this year?

Lupe Fiasco’s long-awaited third album, Lasers, was only released today, but the Chicago rapper tells Gigwise that he’s already working on the follow-up, saying “I’m actively perusing getting the label to agree with that, and that will be it.”

Lasers was long-delayed by Atlantic Records, something that Lupe was honest about, announcing in 2009 that the album was finished but still had no release date. The hold up angered fans and caused them to petition the label.

According to Lupe, his punk-influenced band Japanese Cartoon will also release a new album this year as a follow up to last summer’s In the Jaws of The Lords of Death.
