There’s something about Pulp‘s “Common People” that just begs for it to be covered. In 2004, William Shatner enlisted Joe Jackson for an usual, half-spoken rendition of the brit-pop classic and earlier today pop-punks and purveyors of manic panic My Chemical Romance gave a snot-nosed performance of the track on BBC 1’s “Live Lounge”.
Watch and listen below, and be sure to note singer Gerard Way’s increasingly British inflection. He’s from New Jersey.
