Please resist the urge to make the ‘Foxes and something and Bears, oh my!’ joke that jumps to mind (no? Just us?) when listening to Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold’s three new acoustic tracks.

Pecknold tweeted a link yesterday to a Megaupload file; among the three songs is “I’m Losing Myself,” a somber finger-picked folk duet with Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste. The other two songs, “Derwentwater Stones” and “Where is my Wild Rose” are much the same—near-whispered, acoustic—and only on the former does Pecknold’s voice approach the familiar soaring heights he’s known for.

The three tracks can all be downloaded or streamed just like that while you wait for the new Fleet Foxes album, Helplessness Blues, out May 3.
