Thanks to a 20-minute rant of “allegedly defamatory tweets” in 2009, Courtney Love will now be forced to pay fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir (aka the “Boudoir Queen”) about $430,000 in damages beginning today.

Ending the saga that began with a dispute between the designer and the Hole frontwoman over a $4000 payment for clothing, the singer had argued that her 140-character rampage was merely abiding by the freedom of expression, while Simorangkir claimed that Love’s influence as an entertainer and public figure gave the insults serious clout (like branding the designer an “asswipe nasty lying hosebag thief”).

But despite the large payout, the singer’s lawyer is pleased with the settlement since Simorangkir had originally asked for “vastly more,” going on to claim that the designer and her team walked away “with bragging rights but nothing else.” Food for thought, Charlie Sheen. [via Billboard]
